Along with a First Class Honours degree in Fine Art from Lancaster University, Madeline’s experience in the art industry spans across working in fine art and craft galleries, fine art publishers, curatorial work, and studio practice having exhibited in London, Northern Ireland, and the North West of England. Spending time in these correlating fields allows her to crucially develop a critical and analytic mental narrative towards art. The exposure to a range of disciplines, at various stages of development encourages the constant review of work, ensuring successful presentation of narrative through the work, with a little tongue-and-cheek.

Madeline’s influence is to capture the relationship between the outwardly perceived, with the juxtaposed interior narrative. Reflecting on simplified presentation versus complex reality. Whether that’s self-reflection: dependency and filling a void within the glamour and fun that often encompasses these lows, or reflection on the people and lives we deem simplistic and superficial, to be met with the revelation of their depth and intellect.

Utilising acrylic paint as her chosen medium, working from a foundation of chromatic greys to create realistic base colours, making the addition of colours outside of the primary and white incredibly vibrant. The restricted colour pallet enables Madeline to take the time to mix a more accurate, sophisticated colour. To achieve the classic movie poster-esque appearance, Madeline designs stencils for each text and slogan. This allows for maximum colour density, while maintaining clean, crisp lines.
